Quite Possibly the Ugliest...
Posted by Sam at 4:27 PM
These are quite possibly the ugliest things that I have ever put on my feet. But hot damn... do I love 'em! They're like a hybrid hiking shoe/sandal thingy. Now, I can tromp through the woods in sandals without smashing up my toes!
The great thing about wearing ugly things is that you never have to worry about them going out of style.
Deep down inside, I know that you care. And, I can already hear the relentless ridicule from Carrie.

sweet jesus!!! i dont even know where to begin... the fact that you put them on your feet willingly? that you paid money for them? that you wore them to work? that they made their way from some lunitics sketch book to the store? im sorry, you are no longer allowed to go shopping by yourself. has mimi seen this?

whoa, sam! i can not believe that someone actually made somethng so ugly. do you think you are the only one to buy these? Oh boy, Sam this is so bad...words can not even describe. that is it, no more buying shoes for you unless you get an approval from 2 other sources. (sorta like a questionable mullet).

Sam...I just...don't know man. Those are pretty messed up. Sure, they offer ventilation and toe protection, but they offer no protection against ticks, other bugs, sticks, rocks jutting up, other things that wish to slice your feet open (aside from the sole, which I assume doesn't follow the same pattern as the rest of the "shoe"), snakes, knives that you happen to clumsily drop towards your feet, rocket propelled grenades, anti-tank shells, 50caliber rounds, tomahawk missles, terrorism, windows98, or dog doo.
That isn't really a pic from work, is it?

I don't know, i kind of like them. I had a different pair of keens. They were well built and practical. I would have bought the green though.

Whoa... I didn't realize that this footwear post would cause such a stir.
Anyway, I field tested those bad boys yesterday. They performed splendidly. I tromped through woods, climbed two trees, jumped on rocks, crossed an abandoned bridge, ran from rent-a-cops, etc...
And yes, I did take that photo at work.

It's Mimi! Ok I saw those bad boys in person and they really aren't as bad as you all seem to think. I mean would I choose to wear them? NO. Would anyone I know choose to wear them other than Sam? NO. But I think they make the kind of fashion statement that Sam likes...although I am not quite sure what that statement is yet. :)

Hello. I work with Sam and I understand everyone's concern here. I have to say, I witnessed not only the arrival of the "quite possibly the ugliest" but also the picture taking as well as the daily wear.
Sam was more than excited when he opened their box. After putting them on, he used the jumping test (where you jump up and down and up and down in one spot to test their comfiness). After 3 hours of that, I think he was set.
And the picture taking? Yes. It was done here while giving Mike a demo on the digital camera. It was weird though, I have to admit. It was like glamour shots for "quite possibly the ugliest" but it doesnt make them any prettier (sorry Sam).
But all in all, "quite possibly the ugliest" could be worse. And the daily wear isnt alarming or frightening in the workplace. They blend in. I am not sure about their longevity, but it makes him happy and his feet happy. For now.
