Yes I know its spring whenever I see those ugly things, they are just like a pair of fat ugly groundhogs rutting in a field of daisys.

Q:How long has it been since I have spoken to my brother Sam?
A:About 7 lattes, 5 chai teas, 10 cups of coffee, and 4 cinnamin rolls.

On behalf of my vegetarian soul, and the general aesthetic of your blog, I object to that picture of dead rats soup! It's horrible! AAh!

True, true... Apple doesn't make all of their hardware. I think the point that I was trying to make is that Apple is in control of both the hardware and the software.
And... umm... the Mac Mini is small for a desktop 'puter. But damn, that'd be one large phone! I think, however, that you were probably referring to the nano or perhaps the iPod mini. In that case, yeah, it'd be a cool device. But it still ain't gonna come from Apple. Actually, I've seen some of my undergrad underlings milling around the library with Sony Walkman phones that look pretty hype. I think it's SD compatible... and aren't those up to 4GB yet?
Oh... and yes, I am posting this from prison. I write my posts on toilet paper and then tie them to a pigeon who flies off to an "outside connection" who posts the entry for me (thanks mom!). It's a pretty sweet set-up. And I'm adjusting well to prison life... thanks for asking. The food is much better than anything that I have ever cooked for myself and my prison roommate is way cleaner than my old one. I'm learning all kinds of important life skills too... like how to make a "shiv" out of practically anything. In fact, just the other day I was stabbed with a particularly innovative design. I think it was made out of stale bread or something. So anyway, yep, things are looking up for me... some of the other guys have even started to wink and whistle at me. They seem really nice. I'm sure I'll get to know them soon enough.

Man, you and your "accuracy" are gonna go places! Prison, I guess...
Yes, your corrections are well made. I indeed meant iPod Mini.
I'll buy your point that Apple controls their hardware. Was just making sure it's clear. :) I'm quite sure it was before i "helped".
And...as far as prison goes...tell Bubba "no means no". And send some ghost town pics via messenger pigeon!

Hey...are you posting this from prison?

Apple doesn't make all it's hardware, do they? It buys hardware and assembles it. At least, on the pc...err, mac...side. They've lied to you, Sam! Brainwashed!
Though, I agree. I don't feel there is a need for, specifically, an iPhone. Though, a mac-mini sized phone, with a 4GB HDD, a pretty decent sound system, and the cursory ability to call people, wouldn't be THAT bad, would it?

God, this blog is always clogging up my RSS. Oops, did I type that out loud?
Seriously, Sam, the quantity might not be the problem. Have you tried the google feedreader? It has some handy functions...
One of my favorites is that you tag blogs with their theme. Like news, friends, apple.. whatever.
When I initially log in I see a long list of all the latest posts out of the full 100+ blog list. The first thing I do is click on the friends tag... so I'll only see the latest posts by folks I actually know. After that it just depends on what mood I'm in: news, gadgets, politics, apple... whatever. With a click I only see headlines from blogs related to only that. When organized like this, more seems to be better as it's a never ending newspaper. You will probably never read most of the posts whose headlines that go through the reader (unless they have a tag you are careful to read fully) but you don't need to.
More is better... but crap is still crap, so it's easy to unsubscribe too. If you read a blogpost so bad you don't want to read any more you just click unsubscribe on that post and it's done. I do have a warning about this... by some curious software quirk, if you try to unsubscribe from my blog , your computer will blow up. ~Micah

Oh, thank God. You had me terrified when I read the title of that post. I thought a profound transformation had gone on in the heart of Sam. That somehow your music interests had evolved from loving Metal to just motown. I was worried I was going to read a long post about how you suddenly noticed that Opeth 'was just noise' and that the adult contemporary radio station had 'really good taste.'
I was about to write a plea begging you to tell me who you are, and what you've done with Sam. As it is, congrats on finally being done with all those CDs. So what're you going to do with all your new plastic drink coasters? ~Micah

You might want to check the link that goes to the Project C-90 site. It runs off into a russion hosted website, that seems to contain garbled english, and no pictures of any cassettes. I don't know if the site has been relocated or is now out of date. Thought I just let you know.

Mark,
Yeah... you're right. That link is deader than doornail. It's too bad too. Project C-90 was a very cool site. Oh well... these things happen in the unpredictable world of the internet. Anyway, thanks for the heads-up and thanks for reading!
Blog on! Sam
P.S. Oh... can I post this as an update to that entry?
***
Yep, go right ahead! It's a fantastic sight, and it seems to be the only one of it's kind.
***
Hi Sam,
Yeah, that's what I thought. Your one of about seven sites that suggest it. Anyway, here's another good link you might be interested in.
http://www.stereodisco.sk/kazety/maxell/maxell.htm
It shows quite a few old style maxell tapes from the 80's. I was a strict user of the Maxell UD 90 (second row) and the XL II 90 (eleventh row). When my parents bought my first recorder from National Panasonic, the first cassette I ever used was the Maxell LN 90, just like the one at the top in the orange case. Kind of brings back many memories of my first tapes, when I taped songs of radio from Donna Summer, Lipps Inc, The Vapors and the Village People.
Here's another page, full of TDK Tapes. http://www.stereodisco.sk/kazety/tdk/tdk.htm
Scotch Tapes: http://www.stereodisco.sk/kazety/scotch/scotch.htm
Damn, hell, this is one good site, I'm just discovering them for the first time. I'm still finding more links:
Sony Tapes, these were good tapes too. http://www.stereodisco.sk/kazety/sony/sony.htm
Hitachi Tapes http://www.stereodisco.sk/kazety/hitachi/hitachi.htm
Oh, if you really wanted to screw up a cassette deck, just chuck in a BASF tape. http://www.stereodisco.sk/kazety/basf/basf.htm Over the years, I've had to throw a few boxes of these out.
Fuji Tapes, these were also crap. http://www.stereodisco.sk/kazety/fuji/fuji.htm
Philips Tapes http://www.stereodisco.sk/kazety/philips/philips.htm
That's basically it. Excellent site, but the navigation is nasty, as there is no index to the site, and most of it is in Slovak. Has many great pictures though, and i'm adding them to my retro links page.
Hope it brings back some memories for you, good or bad.
Have a nice day.

Also unrelated: I want to buy a Mac. Would you be willing to help me navigate computer lingo and point me towards what I should get? I'll buy you a burrito if you do!

LOL. I was just explaining to my wife that if she has one mug of coffee and I had the rest of the pot, I only drank 4 mugs worth. Not 8-9 cups.
I don't know how they can call a 10-cup coffee pot ten cups.
There's no decaf in this household.

That was an awesome story. And it's so true because camping is a great joy. I think you should just stick a lighter at the end of the barrel so that it ignites at the end on it's way out. Maybe a little lighter fluid too.
